STI 10-Seg Diamond Segments

STI 10-Seg Diamond Segments are metal-bond diamond grinding tooling for concrete floor grinders — the segments that do the actual cutting when you grind, level, and prep a floor. The 10-segment design balances fast material removal with a smooth, even grind, and they mount on STI Prep/Master® machines with the patented EG attachment system.

What They’re For

  • Grinding and leveling concrete floors
  • Surface prep and profiling before coatings or polishing
  • The metal-bond grinding steps of a surface-prep or polishing process
  • Removing minor high spots and opening the surface

About the 10-Segment Design

Segment count affects how a tool cuts: more segments spread the load for a smoother, even grind and good tool life, while fewer segments cut more aggressively. The 10-segment configuration is a versatile choice for general concrete grinding and prep.

Features

  • Metal-bond diamond grinding segments, 10-segment design
  • Patented EG attachment for STI Prep/Master® machines
  • Available in a range of bonds and grits to match your concrete
  • Run with dust collection for a cleaner, OSHA-friendlier job

10 Segment or 5 Segment — Match the Tool to Your Machine

This is the one that matters most, and it comes down to machine weight and head pressure:

  • 10 Segment (this tool) — preferred for 2420, 2807, 3030, and 4430 sized machines
  • 5 Segment — for the Prep/Master® Jr and other similar-size lighter machines

Why it matters: a 10-segment tool spreads the machine’s weight across more diamond, so it needs enough head pressure to cut properly. On a heavier machine like the 2420, 2807, 3030, or 4430, that’s exactly what you get — full contact, efficient cutting, and smooth results. On a lighter machine like the Prep/Master Jr, the head doesn’t put down enough pressure to get the fullest quality out of a 10-segment tool, so the 5-segment is the better match.

Rule of thumb: heavier machine (2420, 2807, 3030, 4430) → 10 segment. Lighter machine (Prep/Master Jr and similar) → 5 segment.

How to Choose Bond and Grit

  • Bond: soft bond on hard concrete, hard bond on soft concrete (it balances diamond exposure and tool life)
  • Grit: coarse for fast removal and leveling, finer as you step toward polishing

Not sure? Call us — bond and grit selection is where most jobs go right or wrong, and we’ll match it to your floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What machines do these fit? STI Prep/Master® machines via the EG attachment system — call with your machine and we’ll confirm.

What bond/grit should I use? Hard concrete → softer bond; soft concrete → harder bond. Coarse grit to remove, finer to refine.

Metal-bond vs. resin? Metal-bond segments (like these) grind and prep; resin pads polish. Most jobs use metal-bond first.
