This 3-inch, 5-segment multi-mount tool is ideal for the Prep/Master® Jr and other lighter machines — for general surface prep, thin-mil coating and paint removal, and the first steps of polishing. The 5-segment configuration is matched to what a lighter machine can actually deliver, so you get full performance from the tool instead of underdriving it.

Call for pricing, availability, and the right grit and bond — you’ll talk to a real surface-prep expert, not a call center.

  • Ideal for the Prep/Master® Jr and similar-size lighter machines
  • Best for: general surface prep, thin-mil coating or paint removal, and first steps for polishing

5 Segment or 10 Segment — Match the Tool to Your Machine

This is the one that matters most, and it comes down to machine weight and head pressure:

10 Segment — preferred for 2420, 2807, 3030, and 4430 sized machines

5 Segment (this tool) — for the Prep/Master® Jr and other similar-size lighter machines

Why it matters: a 10-segment tool spreads the machine’s weight across more diamond, so it needs more head pressure to cut properly. The Prep/Master Jr can run a 10-segment tool — but the head doesn’t put down enough pressure to get the fullest quality out of it. On a lighter machine, the 5-segment concentrates that pressure where it counts and performs better.

Rule of thumb: lighter machine → 5 segment. Heavier machine (2420, 2807, 3030, 4430) → 10 segment.

Also Fits Bolt-On Grinders

Beyond the Prep/Master Jr, this multi-mount tool fits a variety of bolt-on grinders — SASE®, Diamatic, CPS, and others. Call with your make and model and we’ll confirm.

Choosing Grit & Bond

  • Grit — 16 (most aggressive) through 120 (finer); coarser for heavy removal, finer for prep or first polishing steps
  • Bond — Medium or Hard; harder bonds for softer concrete, medium for a balance

Not sure which grit and bond you need? Call us and we’ll help you match them to your floor and job.

Important Ordering Notes — Specify STI or SASE When Ordering

These tools use different pins depending on the machine, so when you order, let us know whether it’s for an STI or a SASE machine and we’ll make sure you get the correct pins. Just tell us your machine when you call.

For SASE® machines, each tool requires 3 SASE Screws — order 3 screws per tool (a set of 9 tools needs 27 screws)

Frequently Asked Questions

What machines is it best for? The Prep/Master Jr and other lighter machines, plus SASE, Diamatic, CPS, and other bolt-on grinders.

Why 5 segment instead of 10? Lighter machines like the Jr don’t put down enough head pressure to get full performance from a 10-segment tool. The 5-segment matches what a lighter machine can deliver.

Do I need to specify anything when ordering? Yes — tell us if it’s for an STI or SASE machine so we send the correct pins.

What grits and bonds? Grits 16, 30, 70, and 120; Medium or Hard bond.
