About Substrate Technology

Substrate Technology, Inc. is a privately held, family-run business that’s been in the concrete surface prep industry for over 20 years — built on one idea: the right equipment, backed by people who actually know how to use it. We manufacture and sell the Prep/Master® line of commercial floor grinders, and we carry the equipment, diamond products, and chemicals that complement it. When you call us, you talk to someone who knows the work — not a call center.

Our Story

Substrate Technology grew out of more than 30 years of hands-on experience in commercial floor preparation. In that work, we ran into a problem: the equipment we needed — machines that could prep concrete the way and at the speed we demanded — simply didn’t exist. So we built our own.

We redesigned existing equipment from the inside out, engineered our own tooling from scratch, and committed to developing diamond tool technology that delivers the fastest results at the lowest possible cost per square foot. We had our share of failures in those experimental years — and we’re the first to admit it. But those failures are exactly what led to the products we’re proud of today.

What sets us apart is everything around it — the advice on which tooling fits your job, the help dialing in a polishing system, the certified tech who knows your machine inside and out. We build and supply products that are durable and cost-conscious, and we back them with real expertise.
