Smith’s CRU ’86 is a high-gloss, high-performance urethane topcoat that finishes a floor with a smooth, highly light-reflective shine — plus the UV stability, chemical resistance, and durability that industrial and decorative floors demand. A single-component, aliphatic, moisture-cured polyurethane at 86% solids, it’s the go-to gloss topcoat for aircraft hangars, showrooms, and metallic/luster decorative systems.

- Metallic and Luster coating systems — a gloss topcoat that shows them off

Gloss or Low Sheen — Your Choice
CRU ’86 goes on high gloss by default, but you can tailor the finish:
- High gloss — the standard, highly reflective finish
- Low sheen — add Smith’s A/O 325 Low Sheen Additive (sold separately)
- Solid color — add Smith’s ISC Color Packs (sold separately)

Important to Know
CRU ’86 is a professional industrial topcoat with specific requirements:
- Requires a primer or coating system — not for direct application to bare concrete
- Dip-and-roll application — do NOT spray (emits harmful vapors when sprayed)
- Thin topcoat only — max 5 mils per coat; applying too thick causes blistering
- UV-stable, but does not block UV when applied clear over a non-UV-stable product (like epoxy)
Because it’s a demanding professional product, we’ll help you plan the primer, system, and application. Call us.
CRU ’86 vs. Hi-Wear 90S — Which Topcoat?
Two premium Smith’s urethane topcoats — the difference is mainly the finish:
- CRU ’86 (this one) — high gloss, single-component; ideal for showrooms, hangars, and showing off metallic/decorative floors
- Hi-Wear 90S — low sheen, maximum-longevity industrial topcoat for the heaviest-traffic floors
Want gloss and reflectivity? CRU ’86. Want a low-sheen, maximum-wear industrial finish? Hi-Wear 90S. Not sure? Call us and we’ll match the topcoat to your floor.
